Since the fifties, surfboards have been made from basically the same materials, polyurethane foam and
fibreglass laminated with polyester resin. The continued quest for lightness has resulted in a weaker product.
Combined with the need for stronger boards and better performance, and the surfing industry’s interest in
reducing the release of VOC’s into the atmosphere, epoxy sandwich construction is rapidly gaining
acceptance in surfboards around the world.
ATL’s new KINETIX® R104 provides a rapid room-temperature cure for surfboard lamination and cures to a
clear, bloom-free finish. Good adhesion to polyester and polyurethane top coats, superior toughness and
excellent resistance to yellowing ensure a lighter, stronger, more durable board.
